CoClear Fellowship Testimonials

Charlotte Gueye
M.S. Candidate, Sustainability Management
As a passionate of sustainability, I am always looking to get involved in initiatives that are working to take the movement further. CoClear’s work is undeniably important in this space as it gives companies a snapshot of a space they might not completely understand : their supply chain. I was honored to be part of this effort to simplify the language of sustainability for third party entities and various companies who want to easily understand and quickly see how their manufacturing activities are affecting them. Through my work with CoClear, I was able to learn multiple invaluable data analysis skills, and to understand the importance reporting and book keeping can have to reach greater goals.

Working on the first collection of product LCA data publicly disclosed to CDP gave me tremendous insight into the process of LCA, as a student studying environmental economics. The range of data quality is vast, but CoClear gave me the tools to understand the complexity of collecting data as well as the difficulties in communicating this effectively. Companies are starting to take steps to understand the full impact of their supply chains, and working at CoClear gave me the opportunity to study the implications of product disclosure. Working on the Carbon Catalogue was an incredible experience and an important step in my immersion into the world of sustainability and product innovation.

Earth Institute Columbia, M.A. Candidate
I had the privilege of working with Sally, CoClear’s Founder and CEO, through Columbia University’s Net Impact chapter, Spring 2018. I was initially interested in getting involved because I believe in CoClear’s data-driven approach to evaluating organizations’ climate change impact. However, the combined effect of Sally’s hands-on guidance and use of CDP’s product-level data made the lifecycle analyses even more fun and practical in application. I have learned immensely from my experience with CoClear and will carry learning outcomes into my future work in Sustainability. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Sally!

As a communications intern for CoClear in 2016 and 17, I've had the amazing opportunity to learn about how sustainability and operations transparency is increasingly infusing the business and financial decision-making of many different industries. Working with Sally was deeply informative for my own professional goals in sustainable analytics, as she mentored me with her own experience of the interdisciplinary nature of the sustainability industry. I am grateful for my connection to this team and the network it has connected me with.

Working at CoClear during the summer and fall of my Junior Year was stimulating and challenging. I assisted in analyzing environmental impact data provided by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP),  I had an amazing time working with CoClear. Throughout the internship, I was mentored by Dr. Christoph Meinrenken, CoClear’s chief data scientist and a Columbia University Professor, Ms. Sally Paridis, CoClear’s founder and CEO, and Mr. Daniel Chen, director of data analytics. I am very grateful for the opportunity and learned a tremendous amount.

In my time working at CoClear in the spring of 2015, I gained extensive knowledge on not only the many ways to sell the idea of sustainability to businesses but also the many ways businesses themselves can benefit from becoming more sustainable. I really enjoyed working with and learning from the incredibly passionate and knowledgeable people at CoClear, and I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to work for a company that promises to be the future of corporate sustainability accounting.

Working at CoClear gave me a new perspective on the sustainability industry and its growing significance across all aspects of a business. Sally and her team were great in both teaching me about the various tools they develop and use as well as helping me grow from a professional standpoint, allowing me to work with them on meaningful and challenging projects that will not only benefit their clients but also help to develop the role of sustainability for businesses across all industries.

Columbia University, M.S. in Electric Engineering
I had the fantastic chance to join the CoClear team in spring 2015 and working as a business development intern. After several years of engineering positions it was both challenging and rewarding to get into the sustainability industry, and try to come up with ideas to help CoClear grow and promote its LCA solution in the industry. I especially enjoyed working with Sally and the rest of CoClear team, knowing that those using the CoClear product will make the world greener, more efficient and save money.

Olga Puntus
Columbia University, SUMA Program M.S. in Sustainability Management
I was part of the CoClear Columbia University project team, together with its Founder, Sally Paridis during the spring 2014 semester. It has been an invaluable experience of being part of CoClear’s incredible development and growth, and a revelation about how such complex things as LCAs can be done clearly and straightforward once a proper technology is involved.
